What's all the fuss about?
Meccanisti is the brain child of proprietor Chris Clarke, and is based in Worcestershire, UK. In his own words:
I have owned and modified classic cars for over 20 years, my main passion is for classic Alfa Romeo, Porsche and Lotus.
To me, each of these iconic brands offer innovative engineering combined with unique style, personality and character, which is harder and harder to find in modern sports cars today.
Tighter legislation, ever increasing power outputs and sheer physical size and weight have diluted the very essence of what makes a great driver's car.
After a period co-owning my own restoration workshop, including modifying and re-engineering customer's vehicles, I saw a trend for the enthusiast who was not a traditional classic car owner. Disillusioned by modern offerings, they looked towards the manufacturer's back catalogue for something with more passion and individuality.
At the same time, I reflected on what it was I personally loved about building classic cars.
Meccanisti isn't in the business of building unlimited budget trophy restomod classics, nor is it a workshop that undertakes customer-spec builds.
Instead, Meccanisti builds the kind of cars we'd personally like to own, to our own formula developed over years of modifying, using and living with some of the world's most characterful classic cars.
We're unashamedly opinionated on what's good and what isn't, and we believe the end product is better for it. We add only what is necessary and leave out everything else. We don't take on commissions, we don't have an order book. The only things for sale are cars we'd genuinely like to own and run ourselves.
